Following the new version of the Parrot CTFs platform, we are releasing guides to help you navigate the new interface. Whether you're a new player or a veteran, this guide will provide you with useful tips and guidance on how to tackle Machines in the updated platform design.

Choosing a machine.

There is only one release arena machine at a time, they launch ever 3-4 days. And can include anything from the following categories:

  • Insecure Design
  • IDOR
  • XXE
  • Code Execution
  • Active Directory
  • SQL Injection
  • Legacy Systems
  • Weak Authentication
  • Forensics
  • CVE Exploitation
  • Docker
  • Weak Cryptography
  • Insecure Deserialization
  • Networking Flaws

When you choose to play the release arena you are playing the newest lab machine, you may be racing others to get user or root blood.

The Release Arena Room

This is the lab machine entry point. You can see the machine control settings, as well as information about the machine, and questions you submit after completing the lab machines.

You will also need to be connected to the Release Arena VPN.

Connecting to the Release Arena Network

Download your release arena vpn file. It is good practice to fetch a new profile for each new lab machine.

For more information on connecting to the platform you can check out our connecting to the platform guide

Starting the Lab

In your lab machines control panel, you will see the entry point to the lab, you will have an IP address to start your lab on.

These lab machines only contain a single host to compromise, and you will not need to know or understand pivoting to start doing these lab machines.

Completing the lab

All Parrot CTFs machines, have questions attached to them to serve as proof you have completed the lab. User flags are found in the Desktop or Home Directory of compromised devices or the "end goal compromise"

Resetting the lab

Things are bound to break at some point. Not to worry you can fix a lot of lab machine issues by resetting the lab.

You can usually reset on the same page you started the lab machine on, in the case where you are still having issues you can use the support chat to reach out to our team members and we will reset the lab manually again.

Subscription to Professional labs

No subscription needed. Release Arena is always free.
